Core State is a team of Brisbane-based senior strategic business consultants who limit their engagements to a select group of clients, crafting custom solutions for every challenge. When co-founders Will and Sharon were ready to transform their own business, they reached out to us to develop their brand strategy, identity, website and marketing materials.
In the process, we identified the need for a significant shift – a new business name. Through a truly collaborative and enjoyable process, we landed on Core State Consulting – a name that feels like the future-focused calm in the chaos that Will and Sharon provide.

The Votive Approach
During our strategic competitor research, we found that most business consultancies take the same approach to branding through the use of bland stock photography and neutral graphic design. Basically, they all look the same. We knew there was a fresh space for Core State to play in.
Core State was already offering a unique model in Brisbane, being a tight-knit team of senior consultants committed to a customised approach for every client. No standard PPTs being delivered by juniors fresh out of university. Our task was to show and share this difference, rather than simply saying it.
Our interviews with founders Will and Sharon also revealed a passion for science, the environment and a future-forward outlook. Above all, they both embodied a sense of sage wisdom and the ability to imagine new possibilities.
Based on our findings, we renamed the business to Core State Consulting. We then developed the creative direction “Welcome to the Core State” that imagined the place their clients want to be – in a state of balance, clarity and calm mastery.
The logo itself features a series of circles emanating from, and spinning around the “core” of the C. We paired it with artful corporate portraits and art directed AI to create abstract, symbolic imagery. As a result, the brand has an aspirational, yet truly human feel that appeals to the emotions of the corporate elite.
